i also replicated that issue by setting read only to a file that was downloading without issues beforehand and it failed after i altered the files attribut to read only.
Try setting "Slow Media: Yes" for the file base -- that should make
Mystic automatically copy each file to a temporary directory before sending it to the user. More info here:
