Okay, so recently i've been getting a number at the start of each inbound message, does anyone know what these are?

I'm not seeing any numbers at the beginning of posts, and I can't think of any reason why that would happen.

    Hi Al,

It looks like this message has a number 100 at the top. I think you are
the only one that I've seen from net 4 that has the numbers, the rest
seem to be coming from net 2... I'm able to see them when I use the
NNTP server to read the messages.

Strange isn't it? Do you see that on your BBS and in an nntp reader?

I don't see that at all on my Mystic BBS at all, only in the odd reply that someone posts.. I wonder if it is an nntp thing?

I'm only able to see it through the NNTP reader. I can't see it through
    Mystic either.

It looks like something may be amiss in the seenby lines that could be
    causing it... Not sure yet...

I think you are right based on what Static has also posted.

I don't see that at all on my Mystic 1.12 A46 so it's hard for me to comment. Maybe it's windows specific or I am just not seeing it for some reason but you are on the right track.

That's what I was looking at before I started falling asleep at the keyboard last night/early this morning... :)

I don't think it's Windows specific, as I'm not using Windows here. I can
only see the numbers when viewing through Claws Mail newsreader.

From my end the "number headers" have dissapeared. Don't know what caused it exactly.

I think it is intermittent, it's been going on for some time but I kinda lost the will to chase it up. I'll work on updating the HUBs to the latest version to ensure we're all on the same page.

I did report this to g00r00 in another network, and he already found and
fixed the problem. I'm guessing there will be a new pre-alpha soon. :)

This occurred in some A46 prealpha (and onwards, still getting them). Haven't spoken to g00r00 about it, though.

I think I just spotted how the numbers show up intermittently.

I was reading the General echo and everything was normal with none of the numbers showing at the start of messages, then I received a new inbound packet and when I went back to reading the echo the numbers were back. I had a hunch and re-read some earlier messages and those had numbers now too, even though just minutes earlier they looked completely normal.

I'm guessing the seen-bys got updated by the new packet and that pushed something into position to trigger this. It does seem to be purely cosmetic though because my Synchro point is still receiving every message from this Mystic system with completely normal kludges.

This is a very curious one, how they look OK one minute and the next they
    have the numbers added.

I don't think that's the case. The path and seen bys don't change once they
are written to your message base that's it, they won't change anymore. New messages that arrive may have different path and seen bys.

It would be a good idea to be as up to date as possible and let g00r00 know what you see. The more input he gets the more likely he can narrow down the cause.

I don't see these issues here, possibly because I receive mail via MBSE (not sure of that) maybe.

    Ttyl :-),
    Al
