• TDraw and Mystic Question

From The Godfather@21:1/165 to All on Thursday, September 17, 2020 21:54:34
.. or maybe a DOSBox question also.

So I'm trying to use the TDraw Animations to transition a few ansi's
using the basic pyramid/swipe/verticle blind etc... features. It
appears the ansi's pull up just fine and the animations work within
mystic .. however .. not without the "yes, no, continuous" prompt every
    few lines displayed.

In addition, the thedraw created animation seems to ignore {pipe}PO PA
and baud speeds to slow the ansi down a bit. I'm trying to create a bit
of animation between a few screens, with a pause between each screen,
and obviously without a pause during the animation. I also tried using
the pipe codes within the menu GT feature .. didn't work. Is using
the draw animation possible "out of the box" with Mystic? Or do I need a thedraw type mod to get this to work?

I'm using an ansi transition mod by Acid for now, but have other
purposes for thedraw animations in mind for future projects .. so wanted
to see what steps I'm missing.

Also .. I'm using DOS Box with Windows 10 to use tdraw, and the screen
size is literally 3" by 3" in size. I can't figure out how to make the terminal window larger. Can someone help a noob with DOSbox with some
    quick tips?

    Thanks!

Gosh, I know this wasn't your actual question - but have you played with
xqtr's ANSI animation program? It works great, is current[ish] and he uses Mystic so... the formatting is more up our alley, being Mystic people, than
    the older TheDraw option.

Anyway if you haven't checked it out yet, you can find ANSI-wipe on Another Dr01d or FSXnet files...

I'm using the ANSI-wipe mod on my BBS now for the main menu effect
you've seen. However, T-draw allows for basically movie creations with
ANSI, and also allow for some pretty custom x/y coordinate type work
without using pipe codes .. kind of an old school coders friend. So it's
a bit more then just screen transition features I want to get
re-acquainted with as Mystic's menu system is so powerful that I think
quite a bit of a few ideas can be created without writing MPL's or PY
scripts.. I know it can be done as I've seen it on other BBS's .. but
.. I'm running into the pause issues so thought I'd see if someone knew
    how.

TheDraw "wraps" the code when animation is used so there are a couple of
    thinks to try
1: when saving the ansi choose the hight and width and use 24x78 .
2: open the ansi file with a text editor like notepad for windows and at the end of the ansi code you should see a 255 line inject you Pipe DA or pipe PA just above it

    Pipe PA
    [0m[255

save it and try let me know if that does not work

    Solaris,

Sweet man, thank you! I'll give it a shot on Tuesday while my kids are
at school! I appreciate the help! I'd love to get tDraw animations
working without the pauses. I'll be on this as soon as I have a minute
and will "report" back to you!!

    Thanks again my friend.

So couple of things. During the "save" process of tDraw, I only see a
means of saving the file to 78 characters wide, but do not see a 24
    line limit setting/option.

I tried adding the |PO at the beginning of the ANSI within a text
editor and it took the animation away.

Didn't see a [0m[255 line at the end of the ANSI file so just selected
one of the last codes within the file .. but it didn't pause. So ..

I'm assuming I'm still doing something wrong. Here is the code within a
text editor. I did a search for [255 and there was not any; likely as a
result of how I saved it.....

I tried adding the at the beginning of the ANSI within a text

Dont but anything in the start of the text . Just put a pipe PA or pipe DE at the very end of the code.

your right you cant change the save size in the draw . so just save using the the defaults . for non animated ansi open the file with note pad and delete
any blank lines between the main body and the very last text [255 .

I the animated ansi I have I just put the pipe codes at the very end and it worked so try that and let me know ...
