• FSX Usenet gateway polling

From Andy@21:3/128 to All on Friday, November 20, 2020 23:38:28
    Hi all.

I added the fsxNet Usenet Gateway additionally to fsxNet.

After some testing, 'everything works fine' except receiving messages by areafix and of course receiving the echo mails itself :/

Several packets should be waiting for polling on Pauls server.

The fsxNet node itself is running without any problems.

I added a second echomail node as described in FSX-USE.TXT:

    Address: 21:1/10
    Domain: fsxnet
    Session Type: BinkP
    Archive Type: Zip
    Export Typ: Crash
    Max PKT Size: 512
    Max ARC Size: 2048
    Use Filebox: Yes
PKT, FIX and TIC Password are set correctly

    BINKP Hostname: agency.bbs.nz:24557
    IP Typ: IPV4
    Server Type: Normal
    Password is set correctely
    Time Out: 30
    Block Size: 16384
    CRAM-MD5: Yes
    Hide AKAs: Yes

Requests to AREAFIX are sent but no packet is received the other way round.

I checked my configuration several times the last days but I couldn't find
    any mistake.

Does anyone has an idea whats wrong on my configuration?

I have replied to your netmail and sent you logging to show you that indeed
the HUB is responding to your netmails and sending you packets :) Check those logs and have a look at the settings I suggested.

PKT, FIX and TIC Password are set correctly

You should not be sending packet passwords.

Avon, I also think THIS was the issue with files going to badfiles.. I don't know how the originally got sucked in, but I had the password set. I've removed it now and intend to check the logs to make sure everything is going right.

I think new users don't realize that all the details they need are in those logs. It tells you everything, you just gotta slow down and read them. All the errors are right there in front of you.

    That's it.

Every thing is running smooth now :)

    Thanks Avon

    Hello Andy,

PKT, FIX and TIC Password are set correctly

Does anyone has an idea whats wrong on my configuration?

Generally, these days many sysops don't enable or make use of packet passwords unless specifically requested to do so. I have had downlinks who thought that every setting was meant to be used. Try removing the password and checking again. And verifying that a password is meant to be used.

    Just a thought.

    Jeff

You're right. That's what the problem was. After removing the packet password everything works smoothly.

    Thanks for your hint.
