I'm amazed how people don't even read the election rules.

Several votes could be discarded, while in this case it doesn't really matter, but "what" if it did with the outcome hinging on a single vote ...

When did the majority of the present coordinators ever bother with stupid little things like rules?

Well, this is just like an election in Russia. Only one single candidate, so who cares anyway?

Conning people is easy. You just need to overcome their intelligence. But convincing people they've been conned is much harder. You need to overcome their pride.

    It's totally different:

    1) There is only one candidate because only one was nominated and no-one has
    been denied participation. You're an RC, you could've nominated;

    2) The single candidate could have been voted away...these things have
    happened in the past ...

I'm sure you're including yourself in that majority, right? For example letting your sockpuppet alter-ego post in sysop-only echos?

Not the same at all. In this election, a candidate can be *rejected* by
"no" votes, which is not true in a Russian election.

So, you're 0-for-2 on this post.

Yes, there were procedures violated on the part of several voters, including one who later corrected himself. I've been personally more concerned with the at least 2 ballots that arrived at 1:320/119 but not at 1:320/219 (until I rescanned the echo from 1:320/119 to 1:320/219.) Apparently either SEEN-BYs are getting 320/219 added where it shouldn't be, or (more likely) there is/are a packet or packets that has/haven't been received by 1:320/219.

I don't believe this is a correct analogy. The only reason there is just one candidate is that the RCs as a group mostly ignored the call for nominations, both here and via NetMail.

    Guilty as charged.

While Rob is, honestly, probably one of the best candidates for the job, the fact that the _only_ thing the current members of this committee have done since the last election was to shoot down this same candidates' request to add/submit a document of his current practice for others to utilize, makes this entire ordeal completely pointless.

If he's running to finish what he started, I applaud his efforts. Obviously nobody else is going to do it.

Not a single spelling or grammar error reported as corrected in at least a couple of elections, either. What is this even still a thing for?

    Regards,
    Nick
