• Ideas for authorized gates

As long as there is a moderation/validation feature where posts from telegram get validated to be sent to Fidonet, I would have no issues as a user and a fidonet node.

I don't use telegram myself but I think someone who wants access needs to ask someone who does to grant them access.

That's correct. Access can be shared by either being invited (added) to the group or by being given the link. Same results. Since they are private groups you can't just join them or search them, so actually more secure than the echo side. Most (not all) of the BBSes I've seen allow anyone to access message areas, including the admin echoes.

I only have a basic idea of what Stas has done/is doing.

But yes, I think it is more or less a BBS.

That's what I thought and I think that is good and secure.

Excellent. I think some might be afraid of spam posts that seem to get in from time to time. I don't see that happening with telegram.

Most (not all) of the BBSes I've seen allow anyone to access message areas, including the admin echoes.

I have been guilty of this myself in times passed. I imported a backbone.na and started tossing without thinking of access requirements. A guest user can read what I have here but not post, and admin areas can only be seen by myself.. :)

I have a robots.txt that disallows access to /msgs/ so stuff from here shouldn't be showing up in search results. Honourable bots anyway.
