Has anyone else started experiencing issues with SSH connections? I am running version 3.18 on Linux and initially I was able to accept calls on port 2222 for ssh while maintaining a locked down port 22 for remote admin. I noticed a sharp drop in visitors to my site and some lists have even removed my BBS from their lists. In troubleshooting I find that connections on port 2222 want me to authenticate to the server first before then passing those credentials to the BBS in an attempt to login.
I don't recall changing anything but did recently increase my number of active ports to 24 from 4. I also have no idea when this stopped working but I have not seen external calls to the BBS for over a month so I have to assume that is in part because of this issue.
Has anyone else seen this or have any idea where to start troubleshooting?
I do have the sshd for the OS locked to port 22 in the config files and when I run a status on the sbbs service, I do see the failed login attempts for port 2222.
Hi,
Yes, I am talking about the terminal server. Sorry if this is the wrong place but just like trying to troubleshoot this issue, I am pulling my hair out (not that I have any left) trying to figure out where to discuss this.
I tried the gitlab section but can't sign up with my email address.... had to put a synchro.net email address which then means I can't verify, can't login with my github account and the issue I am having is not already posted.
I really appreciate all the hard work you have put into this product so if I could ask for a bit of assistance on how to report an issue or get community support.
Just as back in the day of trying to get a BBS up and runningYup, I'm sure. Patience and persistence is key. :-)
(with no internet to help), I am sure this is one of those issues that is simple once you know what to look for and near impossible when you don't. ;)
Thanks! That helps!
