THE FIDONET GUITAR ECHO
echo posting guidelines
Last modified: March 18, 2009
As this echo was not appearing in the echolist as of February, 2009
RIchard Webb at 1:116/901 has caused it to again be listed, and will
assume responsibilities as moderator/echo caretaker until such
time as conference users should express an interest in having
somebody else perform these duties.
By posting in this echomail conference you indicate that you
have read and will comply with these rules and guidelines.
Sysops should use whatever means are available via their bbs
package of choice to make these rules available to users
when first entering the conference.
This fidonet echomail conference is intended for discussion
of topics relevant to playing the guitar or the bass.
Although this is an international conference we ask that you post in ENglish only please.
All posters must use their real name. IF your real name does
not appear in the from field then it should appear in the
signature of the message.
If for personal or professional reasons you would wish to post here
using other than your real name please netmail the moderator at the
above shown fidonet address. Performers and entertainers often
would prefer to perform under a stage name, or would prefer to enjoy a
forum such as this one without being plagued by the problems that might
result. IF you would wish to participate in this echo using other
than your real name please netmail an explanation of your reasoning.
Reasonable requests to waive the real name requirement will be granted.
Please conduct yourself in this echo as a rational thinking adult.
This moderator prefers to handle moderation issues via
private mail wherever possible. Sysops who do not offer
users netmail are asked to convey any communication addressed
to a user and sent by netmail to that user.
Musicians are a gregarious bunch, and topics can drift from
the stated subject quite easily I've noted over the years
while participating in many forums for musicians and support
personnel. Your moderator will interpret these rules quite
loosely so as to make this echo fun and beneficial to
participants. However, flaming and personal attacks will
*not* be tolerated.
Please do not gate this echo outside of fidonet without
asking permission of the moderator and conference
participants. Gating requests may be granted if the gate
works in both directions reliably.
As is customary with fidonet echomail conferences we
discourage multiple line signatures and high bit ascii
except where allowed by conventions such as the header of
the message to convey proper names of individuals, etc.
So, come on in, pull up a chair and enjoy discussing that
musical instrument that has brought so much joy to your
life.
WHat you don't use you may lose! Tell your fellow guitar and
bass guitar enthusiasts about this echomail conference.
This moderator considers himself the custodian of this
echomail conference. ONe of the duties of such a custodian
is of course keeping the echo listed with any recognized
echo listing service. The echo actually belongs to its
participants. THerefore, if the echo moderator can no longer
serve as moderator/custodian the echolist password will be
turned over to a new moderator chosen by the echo's
participants, or an individual who has expressed an interest
in serving as moderator. A vote of echo users will always be
preferred should the moderator choose not to continue
however.
This echomail conference was created in 1992. THe fidonet guitar echo
has been carried on the z1 backbone for over a decade, and once
was a very popular echomail conference. Help us keep it on the
fidonet backbones by participating and telling your fellow
guitar and bass enthusiasts about it.
THanks for participating in the guitar echo.

I mainly use the acoustic guitar as a writing tool. My
primary instrument is keyboards, followed closely by bass,

Used to own this nice Martin 6 and an Alvarez 12 string.
The alvarez burned in my after Katrina fire. Saved the

Hi Greg,
Thank you... so how many guitarist do we have here?
I play some, played the keyboard in a band for a few years back in the day. Goofed around with the guitar when I was younger, then really learned how to play while I was in the Navy. I would practice 3 or 4 hours a day while we were out at sea. Lost my electric guitar to a fire about 12 years ago, got a halfway decent 6 string now. I play it every now and then when I'm not working. Love playing the blues.
Any blues players here?

Same here. LOVE playing guitar and listening to guitar.
Sometimes I'll actually switch up and compose on bass (fret less 4 string) guitar then weave an acoustic or electric (or both) around it. Just depends
on the composition.

YEp, used to have a 4 string fretted precision copy, an
Electra, and years ago a 58 fretless FEnder jazz which I
left in a pawnshop in Denver.
ONly musical instrument I saved out of Katrina though was my Martin acoustic gtr which went into the hospital with me
when we deployed to assist there. I took it with me just to have something to play during downtime. Glad I did!

Been there done that!!! That's why the only musical
instrument of mine i saved from Katrina was a Martin
acoustic gtr. Carried it when we deployed to the hospital
that week. WAs glad to have that instrument to wile away in motel rooms, etc.
AS soon as I knew I was going to have a stable address
though I went out and bought a decent 88 key weighted action Roland so I could have both again. I'm starting to play the martin more these days though because I'm getting ready to
start recording some original music again soon.
Been waiting for some conversation to show up here <grin>.

I would imagine that would make playing quite painfull, my wife had Fibromyalgia also, so I understand the pain part. It makes me feel helples not be able to do anything to help her when she is hurting bad.
Yes, it was pretty hard for me to swallow having to give it up, and ya I bet it is pretty awful for a loved one to have to watch you in pain, unable to help. That's gotta suck too.

Hi Richard,
AS soon as I knew I was going to have a stable address
though I went out and bought a decent 88 key weighted action Roland so I c have both again. I'm starting to play the martin more these days though because I'm getting ready to
start recording some original music again soon.
I used to have a Roland HS60 and a Roland axis back in the early 90's along with a yamaha cp3 which I still have and another yamaha, but I can't remember what model it was. My guitar is a Greg Bennett, it was the cheapest one in the store that had a good sound to it. I accually traded my daughters snare drum that she no longer wanted or played for it along with $20.00. :) I like to play the blues a lot and this is the first guitar I've had that does not go out of tune in 5 mins of playing the blues.
Scott....
... Yours for the asking. Torture never works.

Hi Crystal,
On occasion, though I've never been able to get very good at it, as Fibromyalgia pain makes regular practice too painful. These day's i'm been getting guitar sounds thru string samples run through pedal and amp effect simulations in Logic Pro, all of the rockin without the pain! ^_^
I would imagine that would make playing quite painfull, my wife had Fibromyalgia also, so I understand the pain part. It makes me feel helpless to not be able to do anything to help her when she is hurting bad.

when first entering the conference.
This fidonet echomail conference is intended for discussion
of topics relevant to playing the guitar or the bass.
Although this is an international conference we ask that you post in

If for personal or professional reasons you would wish to post here
using other than your real name please netmail the moderator at the

would prefer to perform under a stage name, or would prefer to enjoy a
forum such as this one without being plagued by the problems that might
result. IF you would wish to participate in this echo using other
than your real name please netmail an explanation of your reasoning.
Reasonable requests to waive the real name requirement will be granted.
IF such a request is granted the privacy of the requesting party

loosely so as to make this echo fun and beneficial to
participants. However, flaming and personal attacks will
*not* be tolerated.
Please do not gate this echo outside of fidonet without

participants.

YEp, seen that with a lot of the cheaper guitars especially. I'm not sure which
model ROland I have at the moment, I'd
have to get the owner's manual or something, probably even
wait for someone with eyesight to tell me <grin>.
Before the storm I had a Hammond xb-2, the single manual
hammond organ with the draw bars, a LEslie 147 for it,
keyboards otherwise were a ROland a30 controller, only 76
keys, not weighted action <bummer> with a bunch of midi
modules, including the Alesis d-4 drum module, two ROland
sound canvas knockoffs, the Boss models, some sort of bass
sounds module by PEavey believe it or not that really
sounded good. I'd do music beds for commercials and stuff,
used CAkewalk for dos as sequencer.
See what I'm into these days audio wise at

THE FIDONET GUITAR ECHO
echo posting guidelines
Last modified: June 4, 2010
By posting in this echomail conference you indicate that you
have read and will comply with these rules and guidelines.
Sysops should use whatever means are available via their bbs
package of choice to make these rules available to users
when first entering the conference.
This fidonet echomail conference is intended for discussion
of topics relevant to playing the guitar or the bass.
Although this is an international conference we ask that you post in
ENglish only please.
IF such a request is granted the privacy of the requesting party
will be protected by the moderator(s) of this echomail conference.

IF such a request is granted the privacy of the requesting party
will be protected by the moderator(s) of this echomail conference.
So, come on in, pull up a chair and enjoy discussing that
musical instrument that has brought so much joy to your
life.
