  • Gretsch Falcon

    I drove up to PA this past weekend for my Grandmothers 95 birthday and got to play my Uncles new guitar. He bought a Gretsch Falcon. First time I ever played a Gretsch, I think it's up there on my list of favorite guitars now!

    Anyone else ever get to play a Gretsch Falcon? Opinions of it?

    They are nice. Worked with a couple guitarists that played
    them.

    They're humbucker style pickups a la the Gibsons etc. iirc.
    NIce guitars.

    Guitarists I've worked with who played them never complained about them having a problem staying in tune.

    I don't usually play electrics much, as my technique is way
    too sloppy for electric. Electric bass I'm alright, but if
    I sit in with somebody on a guitar or even on my own stuff
    for recording for keeps I let somebody else do the electric
    guitar work <g>.

    I play acoustic mostly myself, but I've been trying to clean up my playing. I switch between my Greg Bennit Guitar, that has 13's on it, to my Washburn
    that has 11's on it, then I practice on the Fender Squire (I know, I know,
    but I did just buy it for my son to learn on) that I put nickle strings on.

    KNew a lot of guys played them back in the day. NOt a bad
    learner instrument really.

    Depending on the song I might play an electric part,
    especially if it's foundation and doesn't have to stand out
    in the mix. My main instrument is keyboards, then of
    standard rhythm and combo instruments bass then drums, then
    acoustic guitar. USed to play trumpet and trombone too but
    my lip's way gone now, too much whiskey, too much road and
    too many cigarettes.
