Hello folks. I am new to this forum but not new to guitar. I have
been reading the "threads" and thought I would share some reviews. I
have played quite a few acoustics lately in the search for the most
guitar for the buck. Kind of like getting a fantastic bottle of wine
for under ten dollars. I do have a friend in Baltimore who has a
small guitar shop and he has an interesting variety of boxes to
sell. His high end guitars are Larravie (sp?) which I absolutely
love but need to save up for. He has a line of Hohners which I was impressed with as he gave me this nice gem of a dreadnought to play.
I don't remember the model but it was black and, get this, all
ebony. Ebony back, sides and top. It was under $400.00 and stunning.
It had light gauge strings on it and crispy highs and loud bass with
a great balance between. I do think it could tolerate heavier gauge
strings for the double pickers. I think he said it was made in Korea
but I am not sure. Other than this, he had a Simon and Patrick 12
string that was under $400.00 that was also delightful. Another
bargain that I am seriously considering is a Luna Trinity parlor
guitar. It is also just under $400.00 and it has a cutaway with electronics. Musician's Friend has these and I want something of
that size. The soundhole is an interesting shape with three leaves
with abalone inlay. You should Google it and take a look. Oh well,
so many guitars, so little time ;)

Hi Jim,
Welcome to the echo.
What's the name of the shop in Baltimore? I work in the Pikesville area of Baltimore.. I might have to go check it out, not that I could buy another guitar anytime soon without having my wife leave me.. lol..

Is there anyone here?
Thinking about getting a parlor guitar, small, mobile, easy to carry through airports... Never owned one.
Any thoughts, recommendations?

I don't have a parlor, but I do own an Epiphone Expidition. It's not currently made, I don't think, but other companies have similar
units.
I think Taylor calls theirs a 'baby Taylor.'
It's a 3/4 body and a 7/8 neck. My wife can drive her pickup and I
can sit on the passenger side and NOT bump the guitar on the door
or anything. Works like a charm!
Guitar Center usually has differnet brands in stock, if you have
one near you...

Thanks I will certainly check into it. I have owned a few different Epiphones & generally enjoyed. Only complained when my wife forced m to sell them if I wanted something new like a Martin...
