I do have to admit to a fondness for Byrd-like harmonies, though.

Me too, can't do them but I love them.

I can do them, but not as well as I once could. That's what
advanced age and too many years of abusing the vocal chords one
way and another will do for you. ;-(

Speaking of which, we just got a new singer for our band. I swore
no more chick singers but damn, this lady can wail! She can sing
real pretty or get down and moan 'em out like Janis. This
    is gonna be good.

Excellent! I don't have any problem with female singers. In fact,
I prefer working with a female voice. 'Course, I'm not doing a blues
thing anymore - I'm more into pop and other styles that have lots of
vocal harmonies - but we had a chick singer in the last R&B band I
played with and she was quite good, too.

    Good luck!

    Martin

Well I never could so I guess it doesn't matter what I did to mine. :)

We will probably do more pop material now. We haven't done much because nobody
could sing them. It's hard finding a good singer anymore. Most in our age group have given it up, those that haven't want to work full time, and we don't
want to gig that much. Everybody has real jobs and it just doesn't work out.

What kind of stuff do you have in mind? For a couple of recent
projects, and partly just for some plain ol' fun, I've spent most
of the past couple of weeks dredging up all kinds of old pop songs
and trying them out again. It's been great fun!

Tell me about it! I don't think I've worked with anyone who was
close to my own age since I quit my last R&B band about four years
    ago. ;-\

Dunno for sure, we're still in a rebuilding stage.
