• STRAIGHT KEY

From David Pratt@2:250/355 to Roy Witt on Wednesday, August 02, 2000 19:34:30
Is this a fairly common ex-services key, generally available in the
    USA or Canada?

I don't know. I put my one and only straight key in a box and never
looked at it again, right after I passed the 13wpm code test,
    c1978-79.

Shame on you, Roy :( Never mind, if it's been in its box since 1978 it should be very valuable by now, although the silver contacts might have tarnished a bit.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Even though I was quite proficient at it, I never liked it that much. My Elmer, who could/can
copy 25wpm in his head and carry on a CW conversation while chatting with
us Novices at the same time, always said that there's more to this hobby
    than CW.

In fact, I met him while I was an HFer using a Kenwood TS520 on 11meters.
