Well since they have DUMBED down the Writen test so a Trained Monkey can pass it I am NOT afraid the say "YES, CW Should be retained as a Filter" We already, with the Dumbed Down test, have filled the ranks with what I call the CB mentality. It might be different in other parts of the World but here in Southern California USA the VUH/UHF bands are a Zoo of Clowns.

Oh come on Tom, even previously, people were memorizing the answers and passing
the tests. It seems to me that a lot of those 'clowns' in S Cal. are extras from what others have said about the matter. Now I would think that those extras did not have to worry about filters and dumbed down tests???

His Point is that the Test is a JOKE proving nothing but Memory capabilities here in the US. We also have a Question Pool abnd the Test element questions are drawn from it. BUT, particualrly by using a Computer, you can have the Questions and Correct Answer Flash on the screen in random fashon allowing you to Memorize the Whole Question/Answer Pool without Ever understanding one thing. Even before the day of the computer boks that allowed you to do the same thing were popular. Just read it cover to cover until you "Recognized"(NOT Understood) all the answers.

But the point is, that kids have been doing that for years in school in any case. Its nothing new. Understand that most new hams dont want to build anymore. Not all, but most.

That is not to say that I agree with memorizing. BTW, how long would you have to stare at a screen to memorize 100 or so questions? How many questions in the question bank?

Most new hams have "never" built a rig at all. Sad what they've
missed.

You don't have to memorize the questions, exactly. If you read them
on the test you will recognize the question and can easily put the
answer to it.

NOW you have brought up something that is a Real Problem. We Gripe about Kids
not knowing anthing but cannot seee the Reason. Ham Test or School Tests, Mindless Memorization is doing us much good.

In my Prime I could do it in about 1 Hour a good computer program. Have a serious Short Term memory probelm now so I have passed my Last Test for anything.

I tried once or twice to do that. Never worked. Instead I studied and passed <G>.
