Any of you use Feld Hell for an operating mode?

Tried to use it thru the years....but very hard to find another signal. Seems like everyone's using everything but Hell...but the only 1 signal I picked up got me excited at the time.

May have to find some Ham radio software for OS/2 & hook the new system up to the FT-450. If so...will have to cross my fingers the Signalink USB will work with it.

them on the air yet. I ordered a 1:1 current balun for my 40 meter dipole
and it should be here today, yay!

There isn't any for OS/2, sadly, and OS/2 will not work with the Signalink. For ham purposes, I use Devuan Linux with fldigi and everything works great with my IC-718.

I am trying to sit down and write a simple holiday-style casual logging
program for OS/2 and others using Pascal but I have been so busy with everything involving my health that everything else has fallen by the
wayside. Hopefully I will start working on that soon!

Have looked at one of those for a long wire...but would have to use it on my home-brewed end-fed or the SuperAntenna I got almost 15 years ago. Eventually...may have to get an MFJ mag-loop. Got much of the stuff to build it...including the resistor an old AM radio restorer gave me from one of the sets he salavaged. Had a buddy in Twin Falls who's so noisy where he's at
that the loop is the only way to get out & get something clear sounding.

Ahhhhhh...I have an RPi 3B+ with the ethernet HAT for power. If my old 2B+ hadn't been stolen by the bum who used to be my roommate...could hook that up...since it was what I originally bought it for. Not sure if the Zero would have enough power to decode some of the stuff like FT-8 & such.

Nice!!! Am wondering how difficult it would be to compile FLDigi to run under OS/2? Many of the libraries should be available. Maybe it's time to contact
the author to see what he says. If I could do the FT/JT modes...along with
Hell & such...that would be a hell of a use for OS/2. For that
matter...someone where the author of JT-65 & such should be smart enough to
do a copy for OS/2.

You'd have to port fltk to OS/2 which may or may not be easy. QT5 is in the process of being ported to OS/2 but it's neither cheap nor easy so it's slow-going. On my shack computer, I now have virtual machines for Windows 7 Pro, Windows 10 Pro, OS/2 Warp 4.52, ArcaOS Personal Edition 5.0.3, FreeDOS, and a 32-bit version of Slackware Linux. I'm covered. :D

I think I'm going to order some more wire as it seems I cut my 40 meter
dipole too short by accident. Works great as a 20 meter dipole. :D This
time around, I'll just cut it to 80 meters and cover it all. I have a big MFJ-969 Versa Tuner Deluxe II (I think that's it) that can handle matching pretty well. There's almost no trees on the property I'm on right now so everything has to be a low-altitude sloper.

I'm seriously considering getting a Jetstream JTV680 6-80 meter vertical
that doesn't require radials. It's a compromise antenna for sure but it
would be a hell of a lot easier to put up in my current situation. Comet
makes another version of this antenna but for $100 more ...

You're close. "Feld Hellschriber" in German is translated to "field light writing". This is the mode that the Germans used in WWII for talking to
units abroad and then it was used world wide for newspapers. It's a very
old but reliable mode that requires you to read it and not a computer. :)

Out here, it's usually 80-90F with 60-90% humidity, sometimes 100% at that
time of year for Field Day. It's fun to go out to all the sites but I generally melt at that temperature and humidity (being from Southern California) so I will stay home and work 1D all night long.

The guy who runs the MFJ loop was in the same situation. He had a ton of wire up on his property...but the noise was lousy.

Oh yeah! Was looking at some DDR3 memory & may end up with 2 8GB sticks for around $70 on payday. Paid over $100 for the 2 sticks of 4 GB I've been
running for years. Just wondering if my main system will be able to have

Seen some who use the wire Slinky's. Got nice tuners on them...but at 90 degrees running behind their house/fence to not take up much backyard space...would be nice.
