    Hey Benny!

    <Esc>:read !lscpu | grep "Model name:" | sed -r 's/Model name:\s{1,}//g'
    AMD Ryzen Embedded R1505G with Radeon Vega Gfx

    The above works with a purely console based mplayer, default fullscreen, using the fbdev driver. No boot penguins yet but is definetly superior to any intel based graphics I have seen thus far which is also refusing to offer up any boot penguins either. :::sigh:::

    Hey Maurice!

    using the fbdev driver

    That should have said fbdev2 driver, although fbdev is still an option.

    Hey Maurice!

    That should have said fbdev2 driver

    Also should have mentioned that /dev/fb0 on this machine is using the kernel's amdgpu driver which apparently works great from what I see going on here.

    good progress

    that imho would be minimal when using vesa :=)

    penguins needs to have the kernel buildt with the fb0 to be loaded before penguins shows, so no modules in /proc/config build with =m that will delay loading of graphic driver, so penguins came to late

    Hey Benny!

    No doubt but probably too slow for most movie formats these days. As of this writing amdgpu is clearly the best of what I have onhand and those are all i915's.

    so penguins came to late

    I hate when that happens.
