    Hey Benny!

    without the grep it was a long story

    AH! Ye olde compatibilty issue. Also grep here has pcre as a dependency which adds perl regexp. I haven't used a stock grep (without pcre) in ages so I don't recall all the differences offhand. Anyhow here is the answer we are looking for;

    -march= znver2

    Excellent! That is what I suspected from a spec sheet I found posted somewhere, execpt they called it Zen2 if I am not mistaken.

    If true then what a terrible waste.

    in what way a waste ?

    We misunderstood each other. If gcc wasn't onboard, which it obviously is, then it would have been a wasted machine. Without gcc you might as well install windows and then take it out back and shoot it (ie put it out of it's misery). However from what I see I'm definetly interested, although I believe there is a new ryzen that I am led to believe is a znver3. It is also an Asus and is roughly the same cost as yours.

    Life is good,
    Maurice

    -march= znver3

    Sweet. I believe that is the same as the Asus micro system I saw advertized. Also there is an Asrock 4x4 that has that same cpu for what seems like a good price.
