Can anyone reccomend a good tic processor for linux that isn't htick.

I have tried to get tinytic to work properly, and I really wish I could, but there seems to be two problems with it. First, if the tic isn't in uppercase then it won't see it and second, if the tic is in uppercase then it will say that it can't find the tinytic cfg.

Anyone know if tinytic is still being supported?

    Hello Frank,

Can anyone reccomend a good tic processor for linux that isn't htick.

The ticer built into MBSE BBS works like a charm.. :)

Sean Dennis is still active in fidonet. He was one of the developers of tinytic
IIRC. I'd ask him in netmail, or I think he can be found in BBS_CARNIVAL.

Wht issues are you having with htick Frank?

Well, I have htick running on my mail hub without a problem, my bbs machine is a whole different story.

everytime I try to toss a tic this is what I get ....

    File: size: 0 area:nodediff from 0:0/0 orig: 0:0/0
Link for Tic from Address '0:0/0' not found

Funny thing is that the config looks perfect, yet it doesn't want to toss the tic.

Have you actually looked inside the problematic TIC file?

Have you actually looked inside the problematic TIC file?

Yes, and the tic comes from my mail hub which is processing the tics with htick. All of my other downlinks are able to process tic's just fine and I have been able to process them using allfix with dosemu without a problem.

So to shorten the answer, yes the .tic files looks just fine, contains all of the fields, etc, etc, and permisions look just fine too on the directories and config files.

    my BBS software

Probably not. The MBSE BBS package isn't modular at all. When tics arrive they are added to the filebase and then sent on to your links. It wouldn't be easy to make that work with another BBS package. Probably not impossible but not easy.

Sean Dennis is still active in fidonet. He was one of the developers

I think htick is your solution if you can figure out what is happening. I used htick with sbbs at one time with good results.

I really don't need the power of htick for my bbs system (on my mail hub I run the full suite of husky tools including htick), I just needed something to toss the files into their proper directories. Using some crafty bash scripting and dosemu, I have gotten the dos version of tinytic to work flawlessly.
