    Hi all,

    I'm trying to get door games working in my BBS project (Impulse BBS) that
    runs under Linux. For some reason the majority of the doorgams I try to run, absolutely will not run on nodes 3 and 4 (the last 2 nodes).

    LORE, The Pit, Dumb Fighter and maybe a few others are the exception, and
    will run on nodes 3 and 4. At first I thought it may be a fossil driver
    issue, but I was wrong. Anyone have any ideas as to why they won't run?

    Thanks,

    |09ignatius |07[|15cia|07]

    Is your BBS placing the proper dropfile in the correct location? If you're putting them in a node directory, nodes 1 and two may already have a door.sys in them. If nodes 3 and 4 don't have a drop file available, and the BBS isn't putting one where it should be.. that could be why your games aren't running properly.

    Nick

    That's right.

    You may want to take a look at your source code then. Remember, you're trying to work with BBS software from the 90s that hasn't been updated
    in 20+ years.

    Yes, the BBS automatically makes dropfiles in /home/imp/imp. In my ~/.dosemu/autoexec.bat file, I lredir'd drive A: to be /home/imp/imp. So, the door games are searching for dropfiles in /home/imp/imp.

    Apparently the problem was with the DOOR.SYS dropfile. On my system, the DOOR.SYS dropfile(s) that are created are only designed to use the first and second nodes. I used a program (QkDoor) to extrapolate the DOOR.SYS dropfiles into DORINFO#.DEF dropfiles. And all is well. I only have a few doors left to figure out. Most notably, "Enigma Of Ashrella" and "Netrunner". The majority
    of the door games work fine with this set up.

    Quoted the whole thing so you could see where to look. But if you notice at the
    very top - your first quote- it shows (pipe)01 on both lines. That probably turns the rest of your text to dark blue as well.

    Ahh. Well, at the end of the string I have "ICRI00I07".. I removed the
    I00... We'll see if this message is different.

    The problem was that I had pipe codes setting the color to 07.. but they weren't properly displaying because Mystic didn't recognize anything after
    the "..." -- which where the 07 code was.

    Probably because you're putting pipe color codes in the quote header! Those become part of the message text and will be handled differently on each BBS
    the messages land on.

    This message looks fine, because it doesn't have your quote header in it.

    that's easy... it is those pipe codes you are using in your header... look at them below... i've changed the pipe to a bang so you can see the raw code easier...

    ==== Begin "foo.txt" ====
    = linux_bbs (1:3634/12.73) ============================================

    ==== End "foo.txt" ====

    looks like your last color setting is !01 which is dark blue for the three dots
    terminating your quote header... it is a mess when viewed with software that doesn't support it but if it must be done, one should set a default color at the end of their sequence like has to be done when using ANSI to return to the default color...
