I was able to get a registration key for the latest LORD and LORD 2 from them. The last time I contacted them was in late 2010 and they got back to me.

That seems about right with the time I got my LORD/LORD 2 registration keys. The Gameport website has been running so terribly slow, it's almost like they're trying to run a server on a dial-up connection. I'll give them
another try as I need my reg keys.

Perhaps they're trying to re-create the feel of the days of dialup modems, to enhance the BBS-era experience. :P

That might be true, and if so, they really need to start giving people what they paid for or else they'll lose even more money as customers stop buying from them.

These days, I doubt that even a new sequel to a game like LORD would sell enough to be very profitable. I don't think there are enough sysops to provide them enough income.

Not a bit. No word. Nothing. I doubt they even check their e-mail or it doesn't reach them. I've sent e-mail to both support@gameport.com and michael@lordlegacy.com. I doubt I will get a reply to any of them because

I have a bit of incite into this subject. I had an email conversation with Michael not long ago. He said he hasn't had any contact with Gameport in quite sometime. He also has no access to keys or anything like that. Gameport makes it extremely difficult to get in touch with them.

After some snooping around, the company seems to be linked with a Multi
Service Corporation, based at the same address as Gameport in KS. Here is the information I got off their domain whois.

    Multi Service Corporation (domain-tc@MULTISERVICE.NET)

    Fax: 913-451-2443
    8650 COLLEGE BLVD

It might be worth it to give them a call. :)

Thanks for the insight Jay, I'm thinking of writing them a letter
requesting a LORD registration key. Even if it was lost, I would pay
$10-15 again just to have another key. One time should be enough, I
know how things can get lost and destroyed but this game is worth a lot
and to get a second key or an existing key at that.

Nah. They just really don't care much about the entire era anymore. They just bought up a bunch of old source code and thought they'd make millions on it.. or something. We should really try to get these old sources back in hands that will do something good with them.

Yeah, it looks like some of the 316 messages got spilled over into Fido's LORD echo. It seemed to have happened between last night and this morning. I'll look into it.

Yeah, ideally that's what we'd do, but only if Gameport decides to give up the rights. I wouldn't count on it, but if they do, then more power to whoever would end up with the source code.

I think who ever runs Gameport should see it and all that goes with like the keys for LORD to somebody is willing to answer there emails and all that..

Its been a couple of years since I did very much on Fidonet's echoes, and maybe
as much as three years. I've lost track of when I was reading the echoes on a regular basis. I've got some questions I'd appreciate feedback on.

    1) Does anyone know what happened to the BBS sysop Shannon Talley who at one time years ago ran the Fidotel BBS? When I tried to look up fidotel.com in Firefox, I could not get anything to load. So the domain probably no longer exists. I'd like to re-establish contact with him if its possible to do.

    2) I lost my Castle Camelot web-site in June 2012 and have been procrastinating
about setting up a new site. I thought I could get a small site through Comcast, which is my broadband ISP, but they apparently no longer allow anyone to open Personal Web Pages if you don't have one already. Is there a reliable free service where I can get a small web-site back up? I do have a facebook site but its apparently not oriented towards people distributing Zip files for others to get if they wanted them.

    3) I'd like to know if anyone has any idea what happened to Dennis Collins, the
guy from New Zealand, who was into BBS programming. I lost contact with him via email a little over 3 years ago, and can't find any sign of him using Google or Facebook. I guess he may have died, since I can't find any trace of his existence these days.

    4) Is there anyone whatsoever besides me who still supports and/or develops BBS
door games (IGMs) for the Legend of the Red Dragon game? If so, who are they, and how can I reach them?

    5) Lastly, is there anyone out there besides Daryl Stout who would be interested in helping me beta test, BBS or telnet site-wise, my LORD IGMs, which I still work on as my hobby. Thanks for any info you guys can provide.
