• Lord 4.07

From Michael Preslar@1:275/112 to All on Monday, October 31, 2005 19:42:34
Okay folks. I've got a request here.

4.07 has been "in the works" for some time now. I want to change that, and release it. For that to happen, I have to feel confident that it is as
close to bug-free as I can get it.

Now here's the catch. I've purposely left bugs in 4.07 to see if anyone would report them... And they've never been reported.

So I'm asking anyone that's willing to grab lord 4.07, give it a run, and report _all_ bugs to me.

To get the 4.07 binaries, send an email to files@lordlegacy.com with a
subject of "send me lord" (without quotes, gets dos version).. or a subject
of "send me lord32" (no quotes, gets door32/win32 version)

    good

I haven't had the time, but I do have a test game runing on my bbs (I only allow visiting sysop into it - it is a no attack other play game (also I
run a few version of lord that are open to all)

    will try

I got the file but I haven't checked it out yet. I got to send them an e-mail asking for my reg codes before I can put it online, that is if they still have my info on file.

Keep bothering them Marty, it took me almost 3 WEEKS to get my codes ... lazy fools.

It shouldn't take that long anymore..

From what I was told.. Gameport has one guy that takes care of the online registration stuff as well as managing the reg key generators.. A few days before the release of 4.07, that guy went on some sort of business trip..
Since 4.07 required new reg keys that also meant a new reg key generator as well as a need to update the online system.. With the guy (Daniel?) out of town, no one could update things. Shannon (the support person that mans the support@gameport.com address, the same person that gives out updated codes)
had her hands tied and couldn't do anything..

Once Daniel got back in town, he put the new key generator in place, updated the web system, and everything else necessary to get things in order.
However, there were some growing pains (of which these details I can't
discuss) and it wasn't as simple as just throwing the new generator in place.

Soo.. Daniel goes out of town.. 4.07 is released.. few days pass and then people start sending in their requests for updated keys.. Shannon couldn't do anything about it at that time.. Daniel gets back in town, implements the new reg stuff.. Some growing pains.. Then finally things are back to normal.

If anyone's still having problems, still haven't received their new keys, or whatever else, PLEAE feel free to contact me directly at mike@lordlegacy.com
    or netmail to 1:275/112

NOTE: You OS/2 sysops will need an updated LORD.EXE and LORDCFG.EXE from me,
    so don't hesitate to contact me. (<pascal alert>I can do a filemode := $46;
and dos, win/16, win/32, desqview, and *nix dont mind - they simply treat it
as a $44 which is what I intended yet fat fingered.. OS/2 on the other hand treats it as a filemode := $2 which is a long way away from what I meant</end pascal>)
