• Mail Autocreate

From Vince Coen@2:250/1 to All on Saturday, August 15, 2015 15:21:43
    Hello All!

Does any one know where in any documentation it discusses in detail how to set up Mail area auto creation when a new msg area echos comes in without being previously set up or/add requested from a downlink.

Cannot find it anywhere other than on changelog for 33.19 & 20 it mentions it in passing.

Could have been in a readme type note when added but needless to say such notes
    have not been retained.

Needless to say I do not have copies of the mbse distribution going back that far :)

In my system (wish was created a very long time ago) I have a message Group area defined as:

    -----------------
    9.1 EDIT MESSAGE GROUP

    1. Name AUTOCREADAS
    2. Comment Autocreate
    3. Base path /home/mbse/var/mail/fido
    4. Read sec 0 --------------------------------
    5. Write sec 0 --------------------------------
    6. Sysop sec 0 --------------------------------
    7. Link sec X-------------------------------
    8. Start at 6 14. Deleted No 20. Charset CP437 2
    9. Net reply 1 15. Auto change Yes 21. GED grp #001
    10. Users del Yes 16. User change Yes
    11. Aliases No 17. Use Aka 2:250/1@fidonet
    12. Quotes No 18. Uplink 1:261/38@fidonet
    13. Active Yes 19. Areas BACKBONE.NA
    -----------------

Now thats fine for one group but I need to create another and so far just have this:

    -------------
    9.1 EDIT MESSAGE GROUP

    1. Name Sportnet
    2. Comment Sportnet Areas
    3. Base path /home/mbse/var/mail/sportnet
    4. Read sec 0 --------------------------------
    5. Write sec 0 --------------------------------
    6. Sysop sec 0 --------------------------------
    7. Link sec X-------------------------------
    8. Start at 100 14. Deleted No 20. Charset CP437 2
    9. Net reply 3 15. Auto change Yes 21. GED grp #010
    10. Users del Yes 16. User change Yes
    11. Aliases No 17. Use Aka 24:30/1@sportnet
    12. Quotes No 18. Uplink 24:24/1@sportnet
    13. Active Yes 19. Areas sportnet.na
    -------------

Also I am creating a mbse manual as LibreOffice .odf and .pdf files and this is
not documented at the moment other than is changed since 0.33.19 - hardly helpful :)

    Hello All!

    Hello to you.

I know I struggled with the auto create for both mail and file areas. File ares was the hardest when I hooked up to the Fidonet Filebone. I'll have to type out my message back to you on how it did things and what MBSE is expecting
in the areas files as it will take me a bit to figure it all out again. If you don't see anything from me in a few days send me an email at stephen.atkins@gmail.com to remind me.

Thanks for coming back to me.

I have installed another file group for sportnet linked to the sportnet.na and since fixing
an upstream aka addr all (so far) appears to be well.

So I will leave it a week or so and consider it sussed and add it into the .pdf manual.

As for the File group version it is not really different.

Obviously cleaned up since 0.33.19 which has next to no info - clearly the change was noted
in the README which has long gone/overwritten but I could only find 0.33.60 which it far too
    new for the notes.

The older versions I just have not found but if you have 0.33.19, 20 and the next few I
would be interested in getting them if only for whatever is said in the notes.

It is not detailed in the Changelog's.

The imports from CVS contained in the GIT repository includes tags [1] going back to mbsebbs-0_33_18_current and mbsebbs-0_33_18_final. You could go through those older ones to see if they include what you're looking for...

I started writting out the instructions as best as I could remember. I haven't
had a chance to finish them yet but can if you want me to. As to older versions I can't help you there. I only have versions back to 1.0.4.
