• Parking Offense, Schmarking Offense

Hello everyone, here I am again, with my foolish project of translating Pythons
    :)
Can someone tell me what 'schmarking' means? I suppose schmarking is just a nonsense, considering that Cleese plays the role of a pettifogging lawyer. Another hypothesis is that it's composed by sch (abbr) + marking, but... Can you please help me? :)

Italian citizens, join me in the great quest for the Holy Translation :D

You are correct that it is nonsense. It is a made-up word to rhyme with "parking."

Someone at it.cultura.linguistica.inglese answered me that it's an yiddish joke: when you want to talk not seriously about one thing, you can change itas first letter with schm-: eg parking schmarking, nazis schmazis. Can someone confirm this yiddish use?

I do not know if it is Yiddish. But I have heard that style of speech many times, always when you're not speaking seriously.

Tom Lehrer used that construct in his song about Werner Von Braun (From
That Was the Week that Was, for those old enough):

Call him a Nazi, he won't even frown Nazi, Schmazi, says Werner Von Braun.

For extra points, all join in for a chorus of "Vatican Rag."

Yes, I was given this explanation years ago, by a very trustworthy source.
