For all the links I see in my seen-by kludges, there's no one in here that wants to talk about music? I generally see posts by Matt and myself and that's

(To everyone else: Rob's the drummer in Weedpuller, a great band to check out if you like good music. My personal favorite is "Breakfast With You", but all of their stuff is great. IIRC, their website is http://www.weedpuller.com.)

2/3rds of Weedpuller now lives in Vegas, so we're not really an active band any more. Over the past couple of years I did some gigging and recording with The Loons (http://theloons.net), but they're also kinda inactive right now.

I expect to do some recording with a prog-rock band I used to play with back in the 80's (Dresden) here in the near future and will keep you posted. :-)

I haven't listened to popular 'music' for probably 20 years and am totally unfamiliar
with any of the currently popular performers. Since that's what's been discussed
    I haven't commented.

My primary interest in music is the period from about 1920 through about 1963 (I do have quite a bit of WW I era material, too, including Irving Berlin's first musical, 'Yip Yip Yaphank' c. about 1918, in which he performs). I do collect phonograph records (remember those?) and have, give or take, 30,000 of them (and a row of audio CDs that's about 20 feet long). If you can think of a
song that was popular during the aforementioned period (and well up into the 1970s) I probably have it, and probably on an original 45 or 78. FWIW I could've started playing Christmas music a month ago and wouldn't have to repeat anything until well after New Year's <g>.

Well, MM's machine got upgraded from a P2/450 to a P3/1G, and shortly
after that, her wireless network card went south (which wasn't
confirmed until just a few days ago), so we replaced the wireless card
with the one I was using, AND moved her system to a better spot
(apparently, someone else in our complex is running a wireless
network). OTOH, my system (was an AMD K6-2/350, now a P3/1G) was going
    up & down faster than a yo-yo on meth...but it's better now.

use them to listen to stuff on the computer now and I just can't enjoy

I haven't listened to the "top 40" stuff since about 1995 myself (granted, I'm 34, so the "decades" are different for me). I mostly now just trade in MP3s with friends of the same musical tastes.

The problem is that music is no longer music; it's a machine that grinds out talentless idiots for a less-than-intelligent crowd that will settle for anything that remotely sounds like it has a beat. That reminds me of the line that Elwood Blues says on the introduction of the Blues Brothers' CD, "Briefcase Full of Blues". It goes something like "in 2006, blues will only be
found in the classical section at your local public library". It's darn near that now with many types of music, sadly.

Didn't see the movie but IMO he was right. FWIW, 'The Bill Miller Show'
is more to my taste in music. He plays stuff from the 1930s through the

Don't have any wax records. They're wax *cylinders*. And they
get very, very brittle. I don't think they're playable any more (and
I don't have a cylinder player anyway). They do tend to shatter when
