    Fidonet Music, the next generation.

Hello, I have ran a BBS actively from 1995-2006, but I still have a JAM message base and Internet Rex setup to still communicate into Fidonet for
    the future.

My favorite music types is disco and metal, but if any of you have any other music styles you are all free to discuss it here.

I would like to extend the discussion of music to stuff like how do you organize your music, whats the best programs to convert the music into audio files like MP3 or WMA.

Right now I have over 300 cds and I know its going to be a pain to make a database. And iTunes is a big memory hog, so anything that is simple and minimalistic would be appreciated.

For the new transition, I will have the Inland Utopia (formerly The
Parallel) up for visitors to post or do whatnot.

iTunes is a big memory hog? It uses about 26 MB of ram on all my computers? Doesn't everyone have at least 512MB ram nowadays? I have an IBM eServer that "houses" all my mp3's via iTunes and "serves" them wirelessly to all my other computers 24/7. The same computer also runs my Synchronet BBS. It is only a Celeron 2.0GHZ with 384MB ram. I don't have any problems here. <shrug> What do you have a 486DX2/66 with like 8MB ram or something? :)

My computer is a Pentium 4 1.8ghz box, windows xp sp2 / 1gb ram. I currently use Winamp 5.5 more often than itunes. Itunes is only used for updating my ipod
    that i own only.

Maybe I have too many programs in memory, which makes my system performance rather batty. Like firefox, instant messengers and stuff.

Yeah, maybe. That system should be able to handle all that and more.
