• PimpWars 1.52

    Hello g00r00!

I've noticed an issue with the PimpWars 1.52 doorgame, both DOS and Linux versions. After someone wins the game, users get a message that user such and such has won the game and that the game will automatically re-roll in a few days time.

The problem is, the specified day comes and the game does not automatically re-roll; it continues to display the same message. The only way I've found to get the game to reset is to delete pimpwars.cfg, pimpwars.ply, and pimpwars.msg from the game directory.

Any ideas on what the issue could be?

The Linux version also has an issue with the opening ANSI screen looking like it has extra line feeds in it, but that's fairly minor.

I haven't touched that code in probably 20 years! I do still think I have a backup of it in a couple of places so I can see about finding it to fix up any issues one of these days.

Its probably just a bug that happened when I ported it from DOS back in the day and I never noticed it.

BTW, the issue with the opening ANSI screen was cured when I opened it in TheDraw and removed all of the characters from column 80.
