    A few things here.

    1) What is the last fixpack for OS/2 Warp 3 connect and where can I
    get it from?

    Try ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/v3.0warp/

    2) I am having trouble finding decent instructions on how to install a fixpack from hard drive. Does anyone ha a pointer to a set of DECENT instructions as to how to go about accomplishing this task?

There is something like FASTKICK or so... I'm not at my OS/2 system so I cannot
    check...

There is a very nice program named 'QF121.ZIP'. That's the latest I have

It unpacks the different diskette images from the CD to the HD, and
works from there. I have used that on several occasions/machines.

I did check if I had any Warp 3 fixpaks, but fgound only very early ones
on Hobbes OS/2 CD's. IIRC they went up to agout 35, so FP-35 would maybe

you don't have to with DSL... both POTS and DSL ride on the same copper... they're in different frequency bands and don't interfere with each other... there is also a DSL splitter that ensures that each band is not accessible on the other side... being fully connected is a whole new world almost like getting a computer for the first time or starting to program the computer and discovering the whole entire world within it...

i don't know about that but i regularly assist folks over there with the firewall i support and DSL stuffs...

I'd love an ISDN line for the BBS but CenturyLink wants $300 a month
    for it...

no, you really don't want ISDN these days... the charges for calls outside your
ranges are especially expensive... but if you really have to have ISDN then get your local utilities commision involved and get them to make the telcos charge the same rates for them that they do for a single POTS line... that's only two numbers at most 64k each but more likely 56k due to bit robbing by the
telco to get another connection or two out of the bits they've stolen...

but seriously, ISDN cannot hold a candle to DSL... i've got 3Meg down 768K up here for only $40/month (IIRC)... ISDN is only 64k in each direction plus the metered range charges... one of my client ran up a $40000 bill for one month calling from southern pines to raleigh because they insisted on having it connecting even though metered distance charges were involved... if they had been able to wait a week for the local connection to come online, they would not have had anything more than their base bill of $100 to deal with...

i don't understand what a UART has to do with DSL... DSL connects to a ""modem"" which connects to a NIC (network interface card) with an RJ45 connector... no UART involved... perhaps you are mixing up UART with an internal-to-the-laptop NIC???

    Good evening Robert,

I could attach it to you, if I get your e-mail address. It's only 88
    as a .ZIP file.

Some e-mail programs don't accept .ZIP or .EXE files, but FireFox
    does.

Sure, my EMail address is robert.wolfe@centurylink.net.

I have sent the program twice to you, attached to an e-mail.

First to your address @robertwolfe.org from where it bounced back with a message about banned contents. That was with a pure QF121.ZIP file.

Once I got the error message, I added '.txt' to the attached file name,
and forwarded it to your @winserver.org address.

    Haven't read/heard a thing after that.

I can resend it to this third address: @centurylink.net.

When/if you receive the attached file, please let me know here, that you
have received it, because my internet connection is by WiFi, and it's
    not on all the time.

    Have a good night,

    Holger

    1) What is the last fixpack for OS/2 Warp 3 connect and where
can I RW> get it from?

    Try ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/v3.0warp/

Going to try and grab this tonight...

    2) I am having trouble finding decent instructions on how to
install a RW> fixpack from hard drive. Does anyone ha a pointer to
    a set of DECENT
instructions as to how to go about accomplishing this task?

There is a very nice program named 'QF121.ZIP'. That's the latest I h

It unpacks the different diskette images from the CD to the HD, and
works from there. I have used that on several occasions/machines.

Is your board accessible via telnet? If so, I will drop by an get it
from there. If not, I will try Hobbes.

    Thanks!

IIRC I did send you that program, twice becayse the transfer of the
compressed file failed to the first address.

Then came the accident with the broken leg, and I have been absent since
    jan 3rd.

As for PPE's, I should have a decent listing of what was, and maybe
still is, available, if I just can find it.

There is source for PPE's at sourceforge.net I think.

As for the PPE's I use, I don't recall ever having paid for them.

BTW, I don't recall ever having read in the PCB manual v15.2 how to use
PPE's only that it was possible to create such with supplied compiler.

    Have a nice day,

    Holger

Yeah, my copy of the PCBoard documentation actually has a PPL
programming manual that documents all the commands for the language.

I would if the docs were electronic, but they are not. The
documentation I have contains of two actual paperback manuals - one for
    PCBoard and one for PPL.

Oh yes, now when you mention it, I too have the "Prgramming Language v3"

    manual.
