  • OS/2 Warp?

    Hello There,

    Not sure if this echo is still active but hey... :-)

    Years ago, I ran OS/2 Warp 4 as an OS. In recent years I kinda lost track of the development OS/2. My question then is how much has OS/2 improved in the support of hardware and Internet technologies? Lately, I have been in an experimenting mood and I still have Warp4 media here. Is the current releases commercial only these days? Or is Warp4 still worth using today?

    Warp 4 runs happily on old machines, which means single-kern CPU's and
    2 GB SCSI partitions. If you have an IDE HD the installation partn has
    to be about 500 Mb, which isn't a handicap since the OS+GUI needs 120Mb.

    I may have replied to this message already, but I am going to reply here just in case I have not :)

    ArcaOS has made quite a few improvements since the OS/2 Warp 4.52 (which is what ArcaOS is based on). One improvement is better (IMO anyway) USB device handling as well as the addition of WiFi networking -- albeit it seems that that is always undergoing improvements, bugfixes, etc).
