• Creating Missing Tics

From Tobias Ernst@2:2476/418 to Stewart Buckingham on Sunday, May 27, 2001 08:27:38
    Hallo Stewart!

Does anyone have any utility or REXX code which might
create a tic file from the file_id.diz file included in the
archive such that the bbs can import it into it's file
    base?

I think the main problem in generating this TIC file would be to guess the right Fileecho area tag. The rest should be trivial. But how to you expect the utility to be able to gess the file area?

    Viele Grⁿ▀e,
    Tobias

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I frequently
get files from my uplink without the corresponding TIC file. Now
I have spent good money both with my phone company and isp
downloading these files but they are simply useless to me without
    the corresponding tic file,

Does anyone have any utility or REXX code which might create a
tic file from the file_id.diz file included in the archive such

If your ticker is NEF, go into its directory and call pmhatch.

Select the source and then the area into which it should hatch. It would do all
things needed - including to announce it into the associated announce areas, writing you a netmail... It does all actions you had nef configured for - without a tic file. If the archive contains a file-id.diz you can point to it -
if not you can define the description before you start the hatch.

I see your point. There might need quite a bit of logic to guess the file areas :) Anyhow, I would be happy to settle for the files being imported into a single area and then I manually transfer them. At least that way I get them into the bbs and have not wasted all that money receiving them.
