I've been using QNode. I'm looking for something that
will allow me to compile newer options, such as IP and
DNS information into the compiled nodelist, so that I
can have binkley "dial out" on VModem ports in
addition to handling POTS traffic.
Likewise.
On the list of some-day-over-the-rainbow, is a utility
that could take the ASCI version of the NodeLists and
simply parse it looking for the magic byte patterns.
When it came to that .. I'd simply plug it the way
needed for Qnode etc...
If I recall this all right when I was thinking about
it, I either had to prang the NodeList to make it work
with Ray's SIO easily, or, I had to convice Ray that he
should modify VMODEM to accept a "-" mark as a "."
mark,or, I had to somehow get the FTSC to let us modify
the NodeList formula so that we could carry the "."
mark directly in the thing for the purpose.
I found out that some NodeList compilers keep a CRC
checksum on the final source for the thing and what it
produces. They would tell me that there was a CRC
error in the NodeList when I hand edited it! But it
never seemed to make any difference and ran anyway both
in BINK/MAX and BBBS here. So I wound up thinking how
to patch this or that...
Your thoughts?
Is anyone using the OS/2 version of Fastlst?
Is version 2.02 the latest?

While it seems to work in producing a basic version 7 nodelist, I
am unable to get it to set node passwords, override phone numbers,
flags or costs

Yep.
Is version 2.02 the latest?
One I have source code for is v2.01
Works here ie flags, passwords.
Flst202P.Zip 09-25-99 120,048
Hmmm.... Mine shows FLST202P.ZIP 10-15-99 120639 . I wonder if
one of ours got re-packed with a system advertisement.... I think
mine came in on one of the filebone areas.
The IFDC requires a Zip comment. After awhile I strip all Zip files of comments and re-Touch the dates to the latest contained file. Besides some of those old files gave credit to USR, which is no longer part of the system and IMO makes a great modem but doesn't deserve credit for what is history as far as the IFDC is concerned.
Sorry I strayed off your subject, but your original msg did leave an alternative open.
I never call out to anywhere without knowing exactly where I'm calling. The years of huge phone bills are long gone for me. Considering the rather small quantity of Telnet nodes available, it would probably take me less time to manually setup all those in the current nodelist, than it does for me to reply to this msg.
IMO it wouldn't take much to write a REXX CMD to read a raw nodelist (looking for "000-") and output a short list of Telnet nodes then append that to QNode.cfg

Perl560.Zip 03-22-00 5,298,642
PERL v5.60 language interpreter.

If it were me I'd just manually rearrange those dozen or so lines and edit qnode.cfg manually. Otherwise I'd use REXX to automate the job.
Hmmmm....
Thanks for the thought.....
Welcome to the confusion too. <g>
Thanks and Good Luck, Andy Roberts

Interesting..... You are using Qnode and not Fastlst. [I'm also
using Qnode.]
You are doing it down in the Dial translation tables instead of in
the phone number override section. Both work in qnode, but you have
to manually set up each and every system that you want to connect to
via TCP/IP.
I was looking for something more automated.
On the other hand, I do recall I normally "include" my cost and
dial translation tables.... So with PERL or something similar, I
could probably build the needed dial translation table prior to
running QNode.... Interesting thought.... Now, where is perl for OS/2.... (and a good perl book....
Baseically, what you are doing is what I'm already doing, except
in a different spot of the config file.
The real catch is having that translation automatically generated
based on information currently contained in the nodelist.
Hmmmm....

Sleep well; OS/2's still awake! ;)
the '-' works just fine... my frontdoor mailer dials 127-0-0-1 just
fine...

V2.01 is avail in source. If you have a problem locating local to
you let me know and I will send you a copy.

typing ATDT#juge.com directly into the terminal screen
using #juge.com in the telephone number field of the phone book
what version of frontdoor are you running?
I wasnt using the T.
Now using ATDT# I dont get the error.
Now after a while I get a 'no dial tone' message.
Does this with a name or IP address.
Now, I'm finding my DSL link may be down. Will have to
continue this one later or tomorrow.
Running FD 2.32ml here.
Also, noticed in the Vmodem screen the terminal port goes out
on port 3141. Is this what yours does??
i believe the # tells vmodem.exe to use the vmodem protocol... using
nothing should tell it to use the telnet protocol... yep... just tested
it manually in the terminal...

Mark,
Can you try 64.214.221.146??
Its my current address. Hopefully it'll stick another day.
:}
To do the "TELNET" part,
one must use a virtual-modem driver called "VMODEM"
that is included with both shareware
AND registered version(S) of sio......

I tried upgrading from 2.01 a short time ago, and it complains of[...]
"unknown or out of sequence cfg line xxx" for the following
statements:
ArcMethod RAR
I verified that my config file is laid out in the same sequence as indicated in the documentation, verbs are spelled correctly, etc. I'm
at a loss... can anyone help?
Does anyone have a location for the sources of this version?
I had the same experience here. Soon fixed it - went back to 2.01
which *does* work. ;-)
Does anyone have a location for the sources of this version?
