I'm gad to see the lurkers have come out. I'll be keeping my BBS running until next Spring before I pull the plug. Conference is safe until then and then I'll
    poll for a new moderator.

    Thanks

Strange. Juxtaposition's local base just passed an all time record for number of active messages avaiable over a 183 day period.

I keep a 30 day message base. It is half what is was a year ago which was half of what is was the year before. My patrons have dropped from 1000 active users to about 40 in five years.

I hope not every BBS has done the same thing.

    Thanks

About Lurkers, On Wed Aug 09 2000

running until next Spring before I pull the plug. Conference is safe
until then and then I'll poll for a new moderator.

My BBS has been running with less than 4 callers per year now for at least three years. I keep running as it is still good to get information from some of the people that have actually tried with great success methods I have not thought of. If your BBS is not costing too much in the way of time and more importantly money the keep it running.

If time is a problem then automate the whole process, all I do is read mail now
and not much else left for manual intervention. My DOS days (feeble attempt to
stay on topic), was no different.

I agree that Fido is struggling to stay alive, I have saw the Nodelist go from 35,000 to a little over 14,000 in the last few years.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

We are a fine board trying to make it better.

Ours is probably worse. I don't think we get that many *different*
    callers in a month.

Strange I still average 70 calls a day. My user file has dropped but mainly I've lost the callers who'd just call to look around once a month, but never did anything.
