    I saw it on 08-27-2000!

    I snipped this from Compuserve's capture of WarpCast. It
    looks as though there will be fixes available for all those
    nagging buglets in the Watcom compilers and, more
    particularly, ancillary tools such as the linker.

    Just to add a little more info that I've gleaned from the Sybase news
    server, (news:://forums.sybase.com, groups are
    powersoft.public.watcom_c_c++ and powersoft.public.watcom_fortran_77)
    the initial plans are to provide an update to current Watcom C++ 11
    users near term (like in a month or two) with full program downloads as
    soon as they get their CM system up and the build mechanics resolved.
    Shortly after that major milestone, they plan to open up the repository
    and solicit user contributions to the code. Steven Howe, another of
    the core maintainers, has indicated that they will be trying to
    consolidate ALL the Watcom compiler versions (they all use the same
    code generators) and make them all available. At least one of the core
    group is working on getting Sybase to release the VXREXX code to revive
    that as well.

    This has to be the most welcome news to come down the pike in a long
    time!

    It will be some time before you can actually get the source and start
    fixing your own little bugs. Currently, the source is available only to
    people under NDA, until the project can get rid of all source that doesn't belong to Sybase (a list that includes Microsoft, IBM, QNX, and probably a
    few more companies).
