Well, I'm still totally dedicated to Pascal after having used it to earn me and my family our daily bread for 30 odd years now, so if you have some problems (other than connecting to Fidonet) I think we are quite a few people here that can help you.

Ok, and I'll even ask a real question.. I'm on a windows XP pro platform and
I have never done any pascal programming. (some C++ and filepro database programming, cobalt, etc..) Is there a free compiler for pascal on windows,
and what would be some suggestions of what materials to read to learn pascal? Thanks,
    Scott....

    Hi Scott,

    This one I know..:)

There is a free pascal compiler and it is called FreePascal (FPK) www.freepascal.org, it supports numerous OSs, Linux, FreeBSD, Dos, Windows
    to name a few..

There is also a add on named Lazarus - www.lazarus.freepascal.org - Which
    they describe as:

"The class libraries and development environment for Free Pascal that
    emulate Delphi"

As for learning material, the FreePascal/Lazarus site has some really good documentation, programming techniques and a vast community of users, so
    maybe a starting point.

Good to know Pascal is not fading from existence. :) I will certainly post questions if I have them..

FreePascal (aka FPC) and if you want to do RAD GUI style stuff, Lazarus... if you get Laz, you'll get both as Laz is a frontend to FPC that carries many of the GUI stuffs...

if you get Laz, you don't need to get FPC as it is already with...
