So did anyone else wonder if there was a direct connection between the Democrats announcing that Harris is officially their presumptive candidate
and the stock market plunging earlier this week?

I do not believe it is a coincidence.

There is a connection.... and the rally after the debate was attributed to Trump's masterful debate skills... Small Cap and Mid Cap companies rallied best because they knew corporate welfare was over.

There will be a global recession like no one has seen in generations because of the current Democrat policies.

BTW, we might be in WWIII by election day anyway!

    Hello Mike!

Stock markets react in real time. If it was a direct connection, this dip would have happened on July 22. It didn't. It held fairly steady for the 2 weeks since Biden dropped out.

Last Wednesday, the Fed announced it was not going to be cutting rates this term. (Next meeting is in September) Investers seemed to expect that, so Thursday and Friday the market held.

Until the jobs report came out on Friday after the market closed. Fewer jobs created than expected, with a slightly higher (but still incredibly low) unemployment rate caused a panic. Hence the drop on Monday.

I do not believe it is a coincidence.

You really want to blame anything you can on Biden, don't you? My keg in my kegerator also ran empty on Monday, and I don't have anything ready to replace it with. Maybe we can blame that on him, too?

Although as I type this, Hulk Hogan is about a mile from my house hawking his new beer at a Wal-Mart. Maybe Trump did it, and is trying to get me to buy The Hulkster's brew.
(Most reviews compare it to Miller/Bud/Coors/Busch Light beers and say it's surprisingly flavorful, but still pretty lackluster as a lager goes. Yes, I'll likely pick some up at some point just to try it, even if the cans violate the US Flag Code. )

They maybe up since the 2020 COVID decline but the market lost 1.5 TRILLION in that 3 days.

Stock markets react in real time. If it was a direct connection, this dip would have happened on July 22. It didn't. It held fairly steady for the 2 weeks since Biden dropped out.

When Biden dropped out, Harris was not 100% the candidate yet.

Harris also announced her VP pick right before this.

Something else Harris did recently... when asked a question about what her
plan is to combat inflation... in her word salad way, she stated that
inflation was an issue but gave absolutely *zero* explanation about what
her plan was, or any indication about whether or not she even *has* a plan.

It was *not* an answer that would inspire confidence in anyone with any
stake in the US ecomony... as an investor, consumer, or otherwise.

You would expect a Presidential candidate to at least have some canned
response regarding inflation at-the-ready but she seemed totally blindsided
    by it.

While I think it is smart not to debate the Democrat candidate again until
they are officially named at the convention (so they cannot swap out as
easily again), I am starting to wonder if Trump shouldn't have gone ahead
and debated her right away. If her answer here was any indication of her overall preparedness to disccus the issues, as long as Trump just stood aside and let her babble like he did Biden, he'd have to shot himself in the foot
    to lose.

Until the jobs report came out on Friday after the market closed. Fewer jobs created than expected, with a slightly higher (but still incredibly low) unemployment rate caused a panic. Hence the drop on Monday.

You really want to blame anything you can on Biden, don't you? My keg in my
kegerator also ran empty on Monday, and I don't have anything ready to replace
it with. Maybe we can blame that on him, too?

No to both of your questions. If we had a Republican administration right
now, and especially a Trump one, bad jobs creation news followed by a stock market drop would most certainly be blamed on him, so why not point out
that it could be related to the current administration or the announcement
that a potentially underprepared candidate is officially the candidate?

Although as I type this, Hulk Hogan is about a mile from my house hawking his new beer at a Wal-Mart. Maybe Trump did it, and is trying to get me to buy Th
    Hulkster's brew.

I don't drink beer... it smells the same going in as it does out and makes
me ill before I even get a buzz... so I was not aware. Let us know what
you think of it if you do pick some up.

I wonder how many other products over the recent years have also violated
the flag code? I am with you, I think, in that I wish they would not do so.

When I was in Canada a few years ago, one of the natives I met mentioned

I also don't believe it a coincidence that Harris chose their governor as
    her VP candidate.

Whoopi Goldberg or Joy Reid might not have mentioned it but business news did. The run in small cap stacks leading up to the crash was attributed to Trump getting into office and cutting regulations and corporate welfare.

The market crash itself was reported as people selling off stocks because because if Trump gets into office and he'll cut corporate welfare and cut regulation to spark competition. That and Kamala is an idiot.
