• Hide automatic PAUSE (but still pause)?

From Alpha@ALPHACOM to All on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 16:07:08
I have a full-screen logon.ans (24 rows) that I need paused so the user can take in its grandeur (lol), but the actual automated "PAUSE" prompt mucks up the art--appears over it, pushes some of the characters, etc.

Is it possible to hide that sbbs PAUSE prompt text for a file, but *still pause*? E.g. I'd probably put "hit a key" in the art.

I guess a solution *could* be to use "DELAY:n" @-code and just wait, say, 3 seconds or something, but thought I'd ask!

    Cheers,

probably better ways to do it, but you could write a small baja script to do the pause and @EXEC:quietpause@

There's no "invisble pause prompt", which it sounds like you're asking for.

You could also try the BPS:<rate> @-code to just slow down the display.

sorry, i'm a bit confused by the quoting in that message but.. yes, yes it
    does :)

i don't think i've used @exec anywhere really. when i was looking at my setup the "quiet pause" was for the last caller screen (which just kept it's own
log instead for some reason lol) and yeah, i didn't use it in the ansi itself.

but! a little wiser me says it'd be useful for injecting data into non-ansi screens.. for example if you had a "current temp where the bbs is" screen.. my first instinct would be to write it in the right spot after the sunny weather ansi displayed.. but for people without ansi support that wouldn't work.. so you inject it into the screen itself.

    *shrug* modding is cool :)

it really shouldnt do that. that's a security risk.

not sure why.. i highly doubt the code that interprets @ codes in sync is
ever allowed to operate on user content.

essentially any display codes are a hack then. they interrupt text output to execute code. doesn't really matter if it's a baja script reading some text
or sync itself reading from the user db. *shrug*
