    G'day deuce....

I'm trying to setup telgating to a weather service (rainmaker.wunderground.com). Everything within Synch is set correctly as it does connect but this is the message I get.

    * * * **Note: If you cannot get past this opening screen, you must use a * * different version of the "telnet" program--some of the ones for IBM * * compatible PC's have a bug that prevents proper connection.

And that's where it hangs. I'm not sure if telgate.js uses the internal telnet from windows or there is something with Synch you use. I've tried connecting from a cmd prompt and it does connect properly and allows me to navigate so I'm pretty sure you don't use the windows client.

If you could possibly steer me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Bill

Unfortunately, the telgate module has issues when the connection to the Synchronet BBS is not also telnet (ie: when it's RLogin or SSH). Could this be
    happening here?

I am almost positive the other end is a telnet connection on port 23 as when I use a cmd prompt and use telnet rainmaker.wunderground.com it connects and allows me to scroll through the menus. I do not specify an SSH port. Likewise, using telgate, it does connect and it gives me the message above so I know it's connecting but will not go any further. This is the entire message I get...

Connecting to: rainmaker.wunderground.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * Welcome to THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND telnet service! * ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * * * National Weather Service information provided by Alden Electronics, Inc. * * and updated each minute as reports come in over our data feed. * * * * **Note: If you cannot get past this opening screen, you must use a * * different version of the "telnet" program--some of the ones for IBM * * compatible PC's have a bug that prevents proper connection. * * * * comments: jmasters@wunderground.com * ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Press Return to continue:

As you can see, a connection is being made and when I do a netstat, it shows a telnet connection being Established to that IP. After I do a CTRL-] and disconnect the connection goes away in netstat.

This is what is says in the Terminal Server under Debug:

Node 1 Telnet gate to rainmaker.wunderground.com port 23 on socket 1300

It locks then I use CTRL-] and <D> then this:

!TELGATE Error 38 sending on socket 1300
Node 1 Telnet gate to rainmakder.wunderground.com finished.

I hope this extra info gives you a clue...

    Thanks
