  • Sports Stats update

    It remains very, very incomplete, but I made some updates to my Sports Stats javascript door today. It can now display standings, game results, and schedules for the NBA and MLB.

    Using the door requires two things that I hope to alleviate eventually:

    * An API token from Erik Berg's "xmlstats" service

    * Use of a Python script to grab the stats and save them as a JSON file.

    Again, this door is very incomplete, but the parts that work do work. If
    you're interested in checking it out (or just following the GitHub
    repository), please take a look.

    Cool! I've been thinking it would be cool to incorporate some sport stats into synchronet for some fantasy sport type games. People love fantasy sports, but have no console based option.

    Been making more progress on Sports Stats. Today I added NFL support.

    XMLstats is a great service, but doesn't provide any scores or standings for the NFL or NHL. So I wrote my own stuff, making use of the great "nflgame" library for Python.

    As before, Sports Stats still is not ready for prime time. The next big piece of the puzzle will be to pipe all this stat data into a JSON service, rather than files in the game directory. Once I do that, I think it will be at a
    point where other sysops might like to install it.
