    What's a mnemonics string?

    A string that contains a list of commands with their command-key high-lighted in some way. e.g. "[A]bort [S]ave [Q]uit"

Oh, so I can put ctrl-A codes in there to high-light'em?

You can, but the idea of a mneomics string is that the command keys are noted with a tilde character (look in the text.dat for examples) and Synchronet *automatically* either colorizes (based on the settings in attr.cfg) for ANSI users or puts the char in square-brackets for non-ANSI users.
