• Rerunning on BAD_MSGS

Can Squish be invoked to move valid messages from BAD_MSGS (those that originally failed to be moved to a proper message area maybe due to misconfiguration) to their proper area ?

eg. like rerunning a Microsoft Outlook filter rule on your Inbox ?

Or does this process have to be done manually with Maximus' Msg_Hurl and/or TimED et al ?

    Hi Mvan,

Can Squish be invoked to move valid messages from
BAD_MSGS (those that originally failed to be moved to a
proper message area maybe due to misconfiguration) to
    their proper area ?

    From SQUISH.CFG -

; The 'TossBadMsgs' keyword instructs Squish to "toss" messages from
; your BadArea, every time a SQUISH IN is performed. Squish will
; skim all of the message in the area, and it will attempt to toss
    ; each one.
    ;
; This feature is extremely useful if you request an area, but forget
; to add the echo to your configuration files. The messages for that
; area would end up in your BadArea; with TossBadMsgs enabled,
; once you add that area to your configuration, messages will be
; tossed from your BadArea just as they would from a .PKT file,
; thereby saving you a lot of manual message moving.

Its sometimes really useful to read the config files..........;-)

    Cheers................pk.

Yes. I think that is the default action. If not, I've enabled what ever key word was needed here. If the control files are updated, and squish is rerun to
process all echomail, it will toss messages in the bad message area to their proper locaiont *unless* the are dupes. It does not toss messages from the bad
message area to the dupe area, if that is what you were talking about. Instead
the messages are left in the bad message area.

I think I'm running my bad message and dupe areas as squish (not *.msg) style areas.

    Take care....

Ack it wasn't a problem with TossBadMsgs as that keyword was already enabled.

Reruns of SQUISH IN's 'seemed' like they weren't retossing the BadArea because the sender's address wasn't specified/included in the "<type> <tag> <path> [flags] [nodes]" definition when the Secure keyword was in use. Heh.

TossBadMsgs won't work on InSecure mail.

During testing I excluded [nodes] in the definitions to prevent echomail from being scanned-out to my uplink.
