Hello All hope you are having a good day :-)!
    About: Squish/LNX

I have a laptop with Ubuntu on it and am thinking of putting my fido stuff on it.

I run IREX/Squish/Timed here and would like to run the same on the Linux box. Irex is dispensable, I have a working copy of Binkd so not concerned what I need is a tutorial on how to convert my squish to Linux.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

We are a fine board trying to make it better.

There's no conversion needed. Just get the latest cvs from sourcefore
    and run ./configure --prefix=/usr/local ; make squish; su ; make squish_install.

I was thinking of my config files. I dont relish the idea of rewriting them. It
is bad enough I will be losing Qedit my favourite editor and will need to find another one, I want it to be complicated.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

There is a beta version of Qedit for Linux named TSE... I believe it's availble
from semware, though wikipedia states "As of Aug 4, 2007 no Linux version is available except a beta-version through request"

There are however a lot of great editors under linux that you may decide you like.. some use wordstar-like commands.. joe is one that gets a lot of use over
here. So does vi.. pico is really easy to use.. cooledit is fun to use.. really there are tons of them out there.. :) I can help if you need it, Gord.

    Take care,
    Janis

No, it's a console app. It was part of the lastest Slackware distro I'd tried about 8-9 months ago when I was working in Douglasville...I really liked it because it had similar keymappings to NC and more DOS-ish keys.

There are so many.. :) I use joe most of the time or nano since it is usually installed by default. Nano is much like the pico editor that was part of the pine email software.

The Midnight Commander editor is mcedit.

For many years I used to use MicroEMACS. These days I prefer Jed.
Like mcedit, Jed also does syntax highlighting.
