Howdy!,

I use a SD Card in my Digital Camera, when I remove the SD Card and put
it in a "SD Card - USB Adapter" to move the photos from the Card to my Computer, I slide the "Lock Lever" on the Card to the Lock position.

I consider the "Lock Lever" on a SD Card to be the same thing as the
"Write Protect" Button on 3.5 Inch Floppy Disk(s), to keep my computer
from Writing something to the Card when I didn't want "IT" to.

I've used that SD Card since I bought the Camera in 2012, but the
other day when I took the Card out of the "Adapter" and slide the Lever
up to the regular "Write" position, the Lever fell off of the SD Card.

When I put the SD Card in my Camera and turned the Camera On, there was
a message on the LCD Display telling me the Card was Write Protected.

After I found the tiny Lever & put it back on the SD Card (not knowing
if I had put it on the Card correctly), placed it in the Camera and after Turning the Camera On I saw an image on the LCD Display, which told me
that I had put the Lever onto the SD Card correctly. Hooray!!!!!!

But

I was wondering if the Lever would work if I put it in the "Lock" position,
so I moved the Lever, put it in my Camera, and when I turned the Camera ON
I saw the Write Protect Message again.

I moved the Lever up to the regular position and when I turned the Camera
ON I saw an image on the LCD Display, which told me that "I" had put the
Lever back on the SD Card CORRECTLY.

I was wondering if "Anyone Else" has had the same experience with the Lever falling off their SD Card?

Since the commonly used USB "Thumb Drives" don't come with a Write Protect Lever on them, I've been using "Micro SD Cards" in the "Micro SD Adapter"
that comes with them, along with my "SD Card - USB Adapter" instead of
using the Thumb Drives I've bought, since I can use the "Lock Lever" on
the Micro SD Adapter when I didn't want whatever computer I plugged it
in to "Accidently" Write something to my Memory Card.

Yes, I have heard of some USB "Thumb Drives" that have a Lever to Disable Writing to them, iirc those things CO$T MORE just to get that Lever on them.

Sounds like you've got things well organized. I also use uSD cards but don't bother with Write Protect. Never had a problem (not)writing to cards. :)

With the older 8" Floppy disks (yup, still have some) one had to add/remove a stick-on tab over a notch to enable/disable Writing. 1st thing I did was order a set of replacement stickies!

Let's not forget flippy disks -- when you'd cut a write-enable tab on the left hand side and use the other side of the disk!

5.25" floppies were the same way. I can remember using masking tape on
some. I can also remember using siccors to unprotect some diskettes that
did not have notches. :)

My reasoning for setting the Lock Lever when using a SD Card on my XP PC
is to hopefully keep something from being done to the Card that I didn't
want to happen to the Data on it while the Card was inserted in My computer.

I'd hate to learn that my computer had gotten bit by some kind of Malware
and the SD Card I stuck in another persons PC infected their computer.

I saw some 8" Floppy disks at a Salvation Army Thrift Store but didn't
get them 'cuz I don't know anyone who has a 8" FDD who could use them.

I have 5.25" Double Density Floppies I use with my Commodore 64 PC, and
can use those disks and the 5.25" High Density Floppies on my 486 PC.

I some times I use a piece of Scotch brand Magic Tape to cover the WP Notch
on those disks instead of the stickers that come with a box of Floppies.

There was a building about 10 blocks from my home where a man made and baked Donuts in the Afternoon.
If I was near there I would go in and watch him as he rolled the dough out
and cut out the donuts.

He would remove the hole portions and put the donut(s) in a baking pan.

After he got all of the donuts in the pan, he would gather the holes and
the scraps left over from the dough he cut the donuts out from, and
roll that wad of dough out and cut out some more donuts from that.

He did that until there wasn't enough dough to make another donut from it
and then he would grab a big pot and mix up some more dough and began
cutting out donuts again.

Occasionally he would stop cutting out donuts to open the Oven door and
remove the cooked Donuts and put other pans in the Oven that needed to be cooked.

My local Grocery Store sold the Donuts the man made.
Iirc, Three or Four Glazed Donuts came in a small sack and it didn't cost
too much either.

Gosh, I never learned about that possibility despite using 5.25"
floppies since my CP/M days. Too late now ;o)

If other side of disk is writable. Most vintage disk had unfit surface on unusable side.

Free distribution sample diskettes had no notches.

I am trying to help you with you with your (new?) software configuration, Ivan.
You have too many origin addresses there. Perhaps one is from something you typed in? You will notice that HPT will insert the address for you.
