• Merging Nodelists

    From AVON@46:3/103 to G00R00 on Thursday, January 31, 2019 19:20:24
Using MUTIL to do this, all is fine until I add a nodelist sent to me compressed using LHA.

Despite enabling LHA and seemingly watching MUTIL find the compressed file and report it has merged it... it doesn't. The nodelist.txt file in the Mystic
data directory is missing the data from the LHA compressed nodelist.

I have the LHA.exe in the Mystic directory and am using the default settings
in Mystic for the archive editor.

You could try the same thing we've found to be useful with the ZIP archive setup, and try putting quotes around the %2. See if that works.

It sounds like its just not extracting correctly. Unfortunately, I just realized that MUTIL doesn't log the "command line" when debug logging is
    turned on for nodelist merging.

Maybe quotations around the "%" stuff would help, or maybe the LHA you have has different command line options?

I'd say try the "%" stuff and let me know. In the meantime I'll make debug logging add the actual command line to the log for A52.

    This might help you.

The amiganet nodelist archive file name is: AMYLIST.L55 (Day 255)

Yep I agree it's failing at the extraction point. I have been testing various options (so far to no avail) with the command line switches and observing if I can view the contents of the file from within the file menu - this keeps failing so I know extraction / viewing contents is failing :-(

I have an older ver of lha.exe so I'll also pull down a newer one from GitHub and see if that helps.

Thanks will do. Hopefully we'll suss it with the extra data logging in A52.

I wish I could remember what I used to build those command lines. I think it was whatever is commonly installed in Linux, so its probably the same thing
you are mentioning. I don't have any of that stuff setup since my hard drive crash either.

Well, the viewing of archives is internal to Mystic so the viewing should
still work if you were to try that inside of Mystic.

It does not work 100%. The file I am trying to view is an AmigaNet nodelist so I understand it's saved using LHA and appears to Mystic as AmyList.l55

When I opt to view it I see no file name, a file size for the uncompressed
file that looks correct, a strange date 10/00/22 and a time stamp that also does not match the time stamp I see on the actual file nor the timestamp of
the compressed file when viewed using LHA.

So in sum it does not seem to work internally either. Perhaps it's because it has a file extn of l55 and not .lzh ?

Did it originate on an Amiga by chance? Can you send me the file to mysticbbs@gmail.com?

I actually ran into something like this with Synchronet as well. Apparantly Amigas' lha uses a different method of compression, like -3 or something like that when the default on Linux is -5 or some such. I don't remember specifics, but it's possible Vorlon remembers, as I think he was the one that told me why it was happening. Sure enough, when I forced it to use the other method, it worked.

    Nick

I have found that lha archives created on the Amiga will have a file date of 15-Aug-80 even if they where created
five minutes ago. The lha on linux dosn't have this problem.

There is also the problem that the Amiga version of lha can only handle compression level -lh5-

Looking at the Amiganet nodelist, it looks like it's been crated by linux lha, with the compression set to -lh5-
and the mixed case in the file name (AmyList).

    **Crossposted from AmigaNet**

    Hi Vorlon,

I asked the question and the following feedback came back.

On 09/12/14, Wilfred van Velzen pondered and said...

Are the nodelists created on an Amiga? Compression levels set to -lh5 ?

No it's created on linux. Compression is not explicitly set, and uses the default -lh5- compression.

To be precise: it uses 'cqi' as command and options to compress the nodelist, with:
    # lha --version
LHa for UNIX version 1.14i-ac20080804 (x86_64-suse-linux-gnu)
    configure options:

It seems there might be a windows friendly version I can try that Wilfred suggests...

On the windows side of my system I use 'lh7.exe a -K5' to compress
package bundles from my tosser, for some of my Amiga downlinks. That
    seems to work.

So I might give that a bash and see how that goes.

    Cheers, A.
