Hello Alan. Long time but still here.

    Hi VE2NIC, Jean.

I'm very glad to read you again. Your long absence has kept me worried.
Like my relatives care about my health, I too want to check up my friends
    every once in a while.

As you may have read, my tries to install OS/2 on the newer ThinkPad
(T61) have failed all tries. Even the newer MCP2 doesn't like it.

While it awaits a solution to the problems, the Win XPp (EN) installed
without problems on partition "F". The C,D and E partitions are for OS/2,
if and when I can install it.

Not wanting to hurt your feelings, it has been quoted as quicker
than any Mac. OK, I will wash my keyboard in soap.

Glad to read that since my GS (working in Stockholm) has promised his old laptop, complete with Win 10, as a XMAS present. At his workplace they
have replaced all computers to newer ones, and he has inherited the
laptop he has used (probably at a low price).

I'm also very happy to have read that the Win10 can be set to the
language you prefer, in my case english.

Nice to chat at you again. Jean.

I'm also very happy to hear from you. Take care.

    Good day, Holger.

Not really a return as I never left. I have read all the ongoing messages as a
distant witness, I just had nothing to add.

I have been on W-10 since Oct 15 last year and I find it very nice. One snag
now since the last update, my HP Laserjet 6L is dead. It ran fine until now. It
is LPT-1 and I have now bought a USB to Centronics cable to try and see if the driver will be honoured. Time will tell.

I have another HP printer, Deskjet 3050A, wireless, I can access it from any
of my three machines here. The 6L was connected yesterday to a venerable Thinkpad, W-7, and it is good.

Not much VE2 going on, just 2M nowadays. Computors have negated quite a bit of
    the OM activity.

    You be good. J.

    Hi Jean,

Yes I know because you've told us that, but as long as you sometime show
up here, we know that you are A OK.

I have been on W-10 since Oct 15 last year and I find it very nice.
One snag now since the last update, my HP Laserjet 6L is dead.

As you may have read, I'm promised my GS's laptop for XMAS, complete
with Win 10. Probably there's no Centronics port on it. Also, my T61
ThinkPad has only USB ports for that purpose.

I'm lucky in that case because I have a Brother 1250 Laser that has both
an USB and Centronics port. However, I know that if I have to get a new
one, the Centronics port is gone.

I have another HP printer, Deskjet 3050A, wireless, I can access it from any of my three machines here. The 6L was connected yesterday
to a venerable Thinkpad, W-7, and it is good.

That's nice. For me a Laser (without -jet) is enough.

Not much VE2 going on, just 2M nowadays. Computors have negated
quite a bit of the OM activity.

Well, I've not let the computing take over. I still do my 10km
scandinavian walking every day, or in the summer 45km bike tours every
second day, with walking the days between, except for the rainy days,
    that are resting days.

Now I'm waiting for the snow so I can go out skiing in the woods/fields.

In the late afternoons/evenings, I'm fighting an uneven fight with
computers to get OS/2 and Windows co-exist on the same HD with the
aid of the BootManager of OS/2.

We have a proverb saying: You won't miss the cow before the crib is emty

I am reminded of that every day, whatever I do, since the XYL died.
